3.5 Tonne Valve Replacement
MMP was tasked with the removal and replacement of two 3.5-tonne gate valves at one of the largest inland reservoirs in the UK. This project demanded meticulous planning, given that the valve tower is centrally positioned within the reservoir, with the deepest valve situated at a depth of 25 meters.
Following an exhaustive dive survey, MMP's dive team executed the phased removal of the valves, employing a systematic approach outlined in our detailed 3D-modeled reporting. This allowed the entire team to visualize the project and collaboratively determine the optimal course of action.
To streamline operations, all lifting equipment, plant machinery, and diving gear were mobilized onto our customized diving platforms. This approach facilitated independent lifting and transport operations, enhancing efficiency. Each section of the valve, including the debris screen, was methodically removed, lifted to the surface, and towed to the reservoir bank for disposal.
The removal phase was completed within budget and ahead of schedule. Lessons learned from this uniquely challenging project will be applied to the subsequent phases, benefiting the team's expertise in handling similar endeavours in the future.
